Q & A with Kathy

Kathy is a small business owner specializing in dog-related products and services. She is a life-long dog owner, dog enthusiast and professional Rover dog sitter Misc 019located in the Overland Park, KS area.

Kathy believes that most dog owners prefer loving homes to kennels for their canine family members. So she teamed up with Rover dog sitting to help offer the perfect solution for dog lovers. Rover is a convenient service that helps you find a happy, safe place to leave your dog if you go out of town for a day or even a week.  You’ll have peace of mind knowing your dogs will no longer have to stay in lonely cages at a kennel with minimal outside breaks and less one-on-one attention.

Under Kathy’s care, she will welcome your dogs into her home while you’re on vacation or away for business. Working primarily from home enables Kathy to be with your dogs throughout the day and every evening. Her large, fenced backyard is the ideal playground for your dogs to exercise and play.

Kathy’s background includes small business development and ownership in the dog products and services industry, marketing communications, sales, and Real Estate expertise. She earned an MBA in Marketing from Avila University.

Kathy owns the Dog Walker Shop, maker of the innovative Dog Walker’s Tool Vest (Patent Pending). She also owns Walk For Dogs, an Overland Park dog walking service. She is a licensed real estate sales representative in KS & MO associated with Keller Williams Realty Partners, Inc.

Why hire Kathy?

If you’re like me, your pets have become family members. Dogs have always been an important part of our family. I currently have an elderly dog, a loving 14 1/2 year old Hungarian Puli named Buksi.

I am so happy to say that all of our dogs have lived long, healthy lives because of the love and attention we give them daily. We exercise them regularly, feed them a healthy diet, and they have regular check-ups at our established vet, Nall Hills Animal Hospital.

What would you like to know about a dog before sitting him or her? Do you have any breed preferences?

I would like to know your dog’s health history and vet contact information prior to dog sitting. If your dog has any special dog beds, or other sleeping arrangements, please let me know as well. I would also like you to bring your dog’s favorite dog food, toys, dog collar with ID tags and Rabies Vaccination tag, dog leash, and any other items they need for their overnight stays.

I welcome small, medium, and large dogs (as long as they are 60 pounds or less). I specify the 60 pound weight for large dogs simply because our Puli is elderly and for his safety. However, I love dogs of all sizes, and we’ve had very large dogs like a Great Dane, Komondor, Irish Wolfhound and Black Labs.

Misc 062Do you have reliable transportation in the event of an emergency?

Yes, I have a reliable transportation. I will always ask you for your vet’s contact information should they require medical attention.

Are you comfortable administering medication?

Yes, I administer medication to my 14 1/2 year Hungarian puli daily.

How much time do you plan on spending with my dog each day?

As a small business owner working from home, your dog will be with me throughout the day and every night. I will make sure your dog gets lots of loving attention, and plenty of outside potty breaks and play time.

If you have a backyard, please describe it.

We are fortunate to have a very large, fenced backyard. It’s a nice flat yard with lots of room for your dog to run and play.

Where will my dog sleep?

Your dog will comfortably sleep in our main downstairs family room. Be sure to bring your dog’s favorite toy, blanket, bed, or whatever they are used to sleeping with at your home.

Where will you take my dog on walks? Tell me about it.

If requested, I will walk your dog around the Shannon Valley neighborhood. It’s a very nice and safe subdivision with great sidewalks.Misc 051
